All Liaison Librarians at Holmesglen are involved in
booking, preparing and delivering Information Literacy sessions for students.
These sessions include orientation tours, research skills, catalogue searching, database searching and referencing. The sessions you are
assigned may not necessarily be related to your specific liaison area. There is
a team approach to the assigning of sessions so you may need to collaborate on
the development of a session for multiple groups.
As part of the liaison role you are expected to actively promote information literacy sessions , along with other resources and services for teaching staff and students, to teachers in your liaison area.

General
- You are encouraged to take a proactive role in the promotion of our information literacy services to teachers in your liaison areas. At times you may receive emails alerting you to new
staff in your Liaison area. You should make contact with these new staff
and offer to give them an orientation tour and show them our resources. In
some cases they may want training on specific databases relevant to their
teaching area.
- Some strategies for promoting Information Literacy services may include - targeting teaching staff via mass e-mails, attendance at their staff meetings and taking opportunities during desk shifts to promote these services to teachers.
- You will be assigned responsibility for one specific
electronic database. You will be expected to develop and maintain a lifebelt
and a current database guide for your database and to train others as necessary. The database guide allocation list is at Q:Info Comms\ Electronic Resources\ Administration\ Liaison Databases.
- You should become familiar with Know it All, our online
study skills package. It is available on campus only and linked from the Learning Commons web page
