SAFETY
Kidsafe - The Child Accident Prevention Foundation Of Australia	An independent non-profit organisation dedicated to preventing unintentional death and injury of children. This site contains information sheets on various topics such as road safety, running and injury prevention, toy safety, poisoning prevention and internet safety.
Road Safety Arrive alive	Arrive alive is the State Government's transport safety policy. This covers issues of traffic safety education including bicycle education and a traffic safety newsletter. Also provides links to key Victorian traffic support agencies such as TAC, VicRoads, Victorian Police & RACV.
Sun Safety SunSmart	Provides sun protection advice to many groups within the community. Includes various SunSmart fact sheets, skin cancer statistics and treatment, and government initiatives.
Sun Safety for Kids	An American web site that outlines sun-safety programs for the protection of children from the cancer-causing effects of sun exposure.
Fire Safety Fire Protection Association Australia	Fire Protection Association Australia (FPA Australia) is the nation's largest organisation seeking to promote fire awareness and the work of the fire protection industry. This web site contains general information on fire protection.
Metropolitan Fire Brigade	The Metropolitan Fire Brigade site provides information on school fire safety programs, community education, as well as links to other publications and resources.
Victorian Urban Fire Brigades Association Inc.	The Victorian Urban Fire Brigades Association has the responsibility of representing Victoria's 10,000 urban volunteer fire fighters in their dealings with the Country Fire Authority in regard to welfare and efficiency.
Country Fire Authority	The Country Fire Authority works to identify communities at risk and assist them to become more self reliant in fire prevention strategies. The CFA is highly regarded for its community education awareness programs. Their site details their work and history, as well as providing information on the current status of burning fires.
Water Safety Baby Center - Water safety tips	Gives information about the dangers of water for a baby and tips on safe bathtimes, swimming and generally being around water.
Better Health Channel - Water Safety for Children	This web site is developed and maintained by the Human Services Department, Victoria. The articles are extensive and have passed through a rigorous and exhaustive approval process. All articles are regularly updated.
Baby Swimming	Adults have the responsibility to protect small children, who lack the cognitive ability to discern danger and are curious and impulsive explorers, from entering any body of water unsupervised. This site helps with recognition of the dangers and awareness of preventive measures.
AUSTSWIM	AUSTSWIM is the Australian Council for the Teaching of Swimming and Water Safety, and is a non-profit organisation. It has a branch in each state and territory of Australia. This page consists of brief information on children and swimming.

Royal Children's Hospital Child Care Centre Policy Manual	Outlines the centre's policies for various health and safety issues, such as sun care, medication, blood-transmitted diseases, immunisations, accidents and illness, and fire evacuations. Australian safety and Compensation Council	Australian Safety and Compensation Council work with government, unions and industry to improve workers rehabilitation and compensation agreements and to prevent workplace death, injury and disease.

Nutrition Australia	Web site for the Australian Nutrition Foundation Inc, a community based organisation that aims to provide scientifically-based nutrition information. The Nutrition for All Ages link includes some handy fact sheets on nutrition for children.
Queensland Dairy Authority (QDA)	A Queensland Government publication titled "Your Child Care Centre's Food & Nutrition Policy". This 21 page pdf document outlines sample nutrition policies including nutrition guidelines and standards for children. You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to open this.
Food and Nutrition Accreditation Guidelines for Child Care Centres	A book including general nutrition information and sample recipes.
Healthy School Meals Resource System	Includes recipes, menus, and food safety articles of interest, as well as various industry links.
Food For Kids	This site is run by the Australian Consumer Association, and rates children's foods according to how healthy they are. It accepts no advertising or promotional material, so what they tell you is very reliable. A sister site to www.choice.com.au
KeepKids Healthy.com	This site contains a wide range of information including a children's healthy food pyramid, food safety vegetarian diets, weight and growth management.
Age Appropriate foods All Refer Health	Provides recommendations on appropriate diets for children including infants from birth to 12 months old. Also contains safety tips and other useful feeding tips.
Fussy Eaters Dr Paul's Child Health & Wellness Information	Fact sheet outlining tips on dealing with picky or fussy eaters. Produced by Dr. Paul, a North American Pediatrician Certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and the Royal College of Physicians of Canada.
Doctor NDTV - Fussy eaters	A very high quality web site. All information has been written or checked by doctors, paediatricians and other medical staff. Check out the remainder of the health topics, as many deal with other health issues for children.

Statewide Vision Resource Centre - Recipes for tactile development	More kid's recipes including fingerpaint, goop, slime and playdough. These ones are from the Statewide Vision Resource Centre which aims to promote an understanding of the educational needs of students who are blind or have low vision.

KidzSing - Garden of Songs	This web site hosts a range of nursery rhymes, holiday songs and folk songs. Piano accompaniment for nursery rhymes is available.

Negligence & Duty of Care Community Child Care Co-operative	This handbook is the result of recent NSW research into addressing health and safety issues in Family Day Care. It provides a policy which Family Day Care centres can adopt and adjust to suit their own needs. Relevant legislation is provided to reinforce recommendations. Australian Institute of Family Studies - National Child Protection Clearinghouse	The National Child Protection Clearinghouse is funded by the Australian Government's Department of Families, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs as part of the government's response to the problem of child abuse.
