External Borrowers

MAGAZINES / PERIODICALS
The Information Commons subscribes to a wide range of periodicals. You may borrow current issues as well as back copies of all titles.

External borrowers include :

  • Graduates of Holmesglen Institute of TAFE
  • Members of the community

External borrowers must be at least 16 years of age and will need to present a valid picture ID bearing their current address.

The Information Commons reserves the right to deny borrowing privileges to those lacking proper identification.

At Holmesglen Information Commons you will find books, magazines and other materials on subjects taught at the Institute.

A variety of recreational reading is also available at the Information Commons.

Loans my be renewed twice, provided there are no reservations on the items.

Loans may be renewed in person, by phone or on-line. Please have your ID number handy when you phone.
Reservations can be made on items currently on loan or available at another campus.

You may reserve up to 3 items at one time. Check to see if your reservation is available for pick-up by telephoning the Information Commons or checking your details in the on-line catalogue.

Fines for overdue items are :

OVERDUE or LOST ITEMS
Items returned late are subject to fines and suspension of borrowing privileges and computer access.


Borrowers will be required to pay the replacement cost for lost items, plus a non-refundable processing fee per item and any fines accrued.

20c per day per item for 14 and 28 Day loans
50c per day per item for 7 Day and Overnight loans

10c per hour for Counter Reserve items
50c per day for Periodicals
$1.00 per day for DVDs

Photocopying and Printing :

Black and white and colour photocopies are available at each campus.
To photocopy within the Information Commons network you may purchase a Casual User card from the autoloader machine and 'Add Value' to it. Please ask for help at the Electronic Help Desk.

The rates for photocopying and printing are as follows:

Black and White

A4 sheet 15cents, A3 sheet 20 cents

Colour
A4 sheet $1.00, A3 sheet $2.00  
Transparencies
Black and white $1.10, Colour $1.50

Overhead Transparencies MUST be purchased from the Information Commons.
